Göttingen is a small university town with approx. 120.000 inhabitants located in the heart of Germany. The 28.000 students of Georg-August-University form the cityscape of Göttingen and make life more pleasant.
The city of Göttingen ist well known for it´s Nobelprice miracle which took place in the first half of 20th century. In 50 years more than 30 persons, which had an affiliation to Göttingen or its university, got a nobelprice.
Today Göttingen is a pioneer city on neuroscience and cardiovascular science, especially the development and application of high end imaging techniques, and has been crowned three years ago with a nobel price in chemistry of Prof. Dr. Stefan Hell and his STED microscopy.
